Mutagen is a customisable worker-placement board game set in a 1920s biopunk world. Players develop their teams of specialised workers and compete to make the most effective use of the locations around the board.
Each player controls four workers, with each worker responding differently to the area where it is placed. Placing a worker activates the relevant location and also triggers an additional action based on that worker’s type. This creates tactical choices throughout the game, as players balance immediate opportunities with longer-term plans.
Biological upgrades allow players to enhance their workers and unlock new potential. Carefully combining worker abilities, location actions and upgrades can provide a decisive advantage over opponents.
